This years’ event was held over the weekend of 13 & 14 June.

On Saturday there was a fairly steady West wind and although only force 1 to 2 there was a reasonable sail. A Regatta Fun Race scheduled for 11:30am followed by Regatta Trophy Race #1 at 2:00pm and Race #2 at 3:30pm. Only four dinghies raced on Saturday, which is a pretty small number when you consider how many boats there are at the club. Saturdays’ audience attendance was quite low and mainly consisted of established members.

Sunday started with a light drizzle and a North force 0 wind that was very variable, patchy and from any direction; not nice sailing. Regatta Trophy Race #3 was scheduled for 11:30am. This was followed at 1:30pm by The Presidents Novelty Event; picking up ducklings (balls) from the water.

The Ladies & Novice Trophy Race was held at 2:30pm. And from 3:30pm onwards there were various Fun and Games on the water which proved to be a wet experience for everyone concerned.

Five dinghies raced in Sunday's Trophy race and seven in the Ladies & Novice race. Sundays’ audience attendance was considerably higher and included many more existing, new and prospective members; the club was very busy.

At 4:45pm a strawberry cream tea was served in the clubhouse and there was also a cake to celebrate Bryan’s birthday.

Tea was followed by the prize giving. This years’ winners were:-
Regatta Trophy  Rodger Wheeler, who tied with Richard Cannon, but was ahead of Richard in the last race which breaks the tie.
Ladies Cup     Alice Lea
Novice Cup     Sammy Brickwood

Detailed results for the above can be found on the website under members pages / race results / regatta and on the club notice board.

Many thanks to the race organisation teams on both days. Thanks to the team who looked after lunch on both days. Thanks to all the ladies who prepared sandwiches, made cakes and served tea on both days and finally thanks to everybody who actually sailed over the weekend. Without you the whole thing would have been pointless.
