Weather (or not?)
I've always been sceptical about the accuracy of weather reports. Despite satellites, balloons and a host of automatic weather stations the forecasters can, and often do, get it totally wrong.
A case in point was Sunday 26 March. This, as you will recall, was the first day of the Aquarius sailing season. Several suitably attired hardy souls pitched up for this event. The forecast promised wind in the willows and rain. What happened? Half the fleet roasted and ended up in shorts and Tee shirts while the other half-retired suffering from terminal boredom. The sun beamed down and what breeze there was could hardly have pushed a matchbox along, let alone a racing dinghy.
The only people enjoying themselves seemed to be the G&T brigade on the club veranda and the multitude of young rowers that always seem to appear on the water immediately following a certain university boat race.
I think Iíll stick to my piece of seaweed.
