Another Sailing Club Robbed

After a recent theft from Aquarius, perpetrated by a male ‘prospective member’, we advised/warned other local sailing clubs about this ‘modus operandi’ We now hear that a few weeks later and despite their members being warned to be on their guard, Hampton SC was robbed in exactly the same way. I cannot stress enough the need for club members to stay vigilant.

Never, ever give the main gate combination lock number to anyone. On site, if you don’t recognise someone, don’t assume they have a right to be their, check with other members to see if they are known. Always secure your valuables in your locker or in one of the new ‘pay as you go’ lockers in the foyer. That’s what they were put there for. It’s your club … help us to protect it.

A late addition received on 8 October from the Surrey Police:-

We have recently received reports of suspicious activity involving males in canoes on the Thames. The information we have received is a little vague, but we have reason to believe that the males concerned may be acting with ill intent.

Should you witness any suspicious activity of this nature, please report it to Surrey Police at the time on our new non emergency number, 101. If you believe that a crime is taking place, please dial 999.

Kind regards,

Debbie Smith
